Socialized! not practicing what they preach in Social Media

You'd expect a company who's goal is to "help organizations to effectively socialize by equipping them to profit and prosper using social media" would be actively engaging in and communicating with their business network using the same SM tools they are an expert in (Twitter, blogging, email, etc). Unfortunately I found out this wasn't the case.

The Chief Social Officer and Co-founder of Socialized! is, according to the bio on their website, is a trainer, coach, and speaker teaching others about social media marketing. It claims that he drives the majority of his business from social media, and social networks and that he is an "authority on the topics of leadership, marketing, social media, and sales performance."

Unfortunately I did not have a very good experience with him as after a couple of exchanges of email in regards to volunteering and helping him with promoting Social Media Week, he did not reply to my messages or tweets in regards to finalizing the details. I had booked my plane ticket and arranged accommodations. The only loose end was to finalize logistics of the assistance I would provide him (live blogging, commentary from a Design perspective, and session tweeting).

It left a very sour taste in my mouth as one would think, speaking to an individual who bases his business model on social media marketing and has built his network around SM, he would be very accessible and responsive and, value the assistance I was offering.

How can someone not practice what he preaches?

Using Groupon

I used a Groupon I purchased for Lemongrass Thai Restaurant here in Mississauga and had dinner with my mom and dad tonight.

The food was alright but what I really want to talk about is my experience using the Groupon and how it was redeemed.

I absolutely LOVE the "My Groupons" tab of the Groupon app. Intuitive and you can easily have it "Use This Groupon" with a blue button at top, a UPC barcode shows up and a number for the establishment to jot down. Great UX and design!
